Health Department Staff are an important part of the County's emergency response to any radiation release from Indian Point. Radiological training for the Indian Point Emergency Preparedness Plan involves hundreds of hours annually for dose assessment, field monitoring and emergency operating center staff, in preparation for the federally observed drill or any incident. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulates commercial nuclear power plants and other uses of nuclear materials, such as in nuclear medicine, through licensing, inspection and enforcement of its requirements.
