William L. Davis, Jr. joined the Board of Health in 1999 as a representative of the City of Mount Vernon. He is a former Program Director of Information Security for the IBM Corporation, having retired in 1997. He spent thirty years at IBM in various marketing and management positions, where he honed his skills in analyzing problems and developing and communicating solutions.
Mr. Davis has developed and implemented marketing strategies throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. He has in-depth knowledge and experience with many aspects of information processing including Information Security, Data Base and Distributed Systems – systems which are relevant to health care, as they are to many other industries.
Mr. Davis is a graduate of New York University’s College of Engineering and holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering Degree. His civil engineering background enables him to address environmental issues and their potential impact on the health of Westchester residents.
His commitment to his community is longstanding. He serves as a Trustee for the Macedonia Baptist Church of Mount Vernon and serves as a mentor, counselor and occasional science and math tutor for the Mount Vernon High School Basketball team.
Mr. Davis is married to Bruce Mildred Davis and they are the extremely proud parents of attorney Cheryl L. Davis, a partner in a New York City law firm and an award-winning playwright.
